Primary Care:
Ambulatory care for acute and chronic illnesses for adults and children.
Referrals:

Everyone is eligible for Primary Care Services.

Medi-Cal, MISP, IEHP, Molina, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids, Medicare, CHDP Treatment, and private insurance are accepted. Non-Medi-Cal patients are screened financially for Medi-Cal, and MISP eligibility. Ability to pay program (sliding fee) is available for low-income patients who provide proof of income.

Pediatric Immunizations:
Assessment of Immunization level. Immunizations given for Polio, Measles, Rubella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Mumps, Hepatitis B, HIB, Varicella, Hepatitis A, Human papilloma virus (HPV), Pneumovax.
Adult Immunizations:
Hepatitis B, Flu, and Pneumovax

Flu Vaccines available during flu season.

Pediatric Immunization: For all children under the age of 18, parent or guardian consent required. Fees charged.

HIV/AIDS Primary Care:
Evaluation, treatment and follow-up, provided as part of expanded sexually transmitted disease services.

Services will be offered to those individuals with a confirmed HIV+ test, or who are exhibiting symptoms associated with an HIV infection, or people concerned about the possibility of having symptoms.  All services are provided on a confidential basis.  Fees are charged.  Medi-Cal and private insurance are accepted.  For other low income patient’s fees are based on an ability-to-pay determination with a sliding fee schedule, according to income.

Tuberculosis Testing:
Skin testing using the interdermal PPD. A return visit for reading is required. Chest X-Ray evaluation for those with a positive reaction.

For a suspected case or contact to an active case or for children:  fees are charged.  Medi-Cal and private insurance are accepted.  For non-Medi-Cal low-income patients, fees are based on an ability-to-pay determination with a sliding fee schedule.  No one is denied services due to an inability to pay.    For work related testing:  a set fee is charged.  There is no sliding scale.  Payment is due at the time of service unless contract, voucher, or other arrangements for billing have been made.

Tuberculosis Clinic:
Clinic evaluations of TB patients to include medication, X-ray, skin test. Laboratory testing includes sputum and blood work.

Treatment of latent TB infection is also available.

Limited to patients referred by Disease Control Services, private physicians, or hospitals.  Fees charged.  Medi-Cal and private insurance are accepted.  For other low-income patients, fees are based on an ability-to-pay determination with a sliding fee schedule, according to income.  No one is denied services due to an inability to pay.

Family Planning:
Basic contraceptive services for males and females include physical exams, laboratory testing (including pap smear), STD screening, information, education, counseling, referral, pregnancy testing, birth control methods and counseling.

Family P.A.C.T. state only provider. Medi-Cal and private insurance are accepted. Non-Medi-Cal clients are financially screened for eligibility for State Family P.A.C.T./Federal family planning funding, whereby client fees are based on a sliding fee schedule according to income and family size. Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program:

Child Health Exams:
History and physical examination, dental assessment, nutritional assessment, vision screening, hearing screening, blood and urine testing, TB testing, immunizations lead screening, health education, referral for follow-up diagnosis and treatment.

Children from birth to 21 years of age who have Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and Healthy Kids. Also, children may qualify for CHDP funding according to family size and income. Any child attending a State licensed Preschool/HeadStart Program is eligible for an examination.

Cancer Screening:
Physical exam including breast and pelvic exam. Education: Self-breast exam.

Immunization Registry
The California Immunization Registry (CAIR) oversees the activities of the Inland Empire Immunization Tracking System (IEITS) in Riverside County. The CAIR is a confidential, computerized information system that manages information pertaining to childhood immunizations. The Registry will provide better access to information for records that may have been lost; prevent duplicate vaccinations; and through its reminder/recall system ensure more timely immunizations.

Encourage teen parents to stay in or return to high school, or an equivalent program, and earn a diploma or its equivalent.
Long-term, comprehensive case management for pregnant & parenting teens who are CalWORKs recipients. Provides counseling & referral to needed services, advocacy & follow-up. May also receive financial incentives for satisfactory school progress and high school graduation or equivalent and financial disincentives for school failure or non-participation. Supportive services (child care, transportation, and ancillary services) are available if needed for school attendance.

CalWORKs recipients who are pregnant, or a custodial parent, who have not graduated high school.
Mandatory program until age 19.
May voluntarily continue until 20 if they are participating prior to age 19, who have not graduated and are meeting other program requirements.

Administrative and Case Management Services
California Children Services (CCS) is a statewide program of specialized medical care and rehabilitation for children with special health care needs. The program provides diagnostic and treatment services including: Hospital admissions, outpatient visits, surgeries, X-Rays and laboratory testing, medicines, durable medical equipment, and other rehabilitation services; coordination of medical care, referrals to other agencies.

WRAPAROUND PROGRAM GO

Public Health Nurses work in collaboration with the Department of Mental Health, Social Services, Probation and Education to ensure that the health related needs of families are identified and addressed through available community resources. In this partnership the Public Health Nurse provides support individualized to each family’s unique strengths and needs promoting health, safety and permanence in the home, school and community.

Children are referred to the Wraparound Program from the Probation Department or the Mental Health Case Management Department. Before they can be referred, these children need to be in placement or at risk for a high level group home placement. They also need to have Medi-Cal and a family to go home to. Public Health Nurses provide individualized care to meet the needs of first time moms and their babies.

Latino 5 a Day Campaign

  • Prenatal Education:  Pregnant women are encouraged to call the Breastfeeding Helpline to enroll in the Loving Support Program and request a free packet of breastfeeding information.
  • African-American Peer Counselor Project “Sistah Connection”: Trained Breastfeeding Peer Counselors facilitate monthly breastfeeding and parenting support groups for pregnancy and exclusively breastfeeding women at the following locations:  Riverside (2), Moreno Valley (2), Hemet, Rubidoux, and Perris.

Family Planning:
Basic contraceptive services for both male and female include physical exams, laboratory testing including pap smear, information/education/ counseling/referral, pregnancy testing, birth control methods, and counseling.

 

Family P.A.C.T. state only provider. Medi-Cal and private insurance are accepted. Non-Medi-Cal clients are financially screened for eligibility for State Family P.A.C.T./Federal family planning funding, whereby client fees are based on a sliding fee schedule according to income and family size. No parental consent required. Confidential services.

Teen Clinics:
Walk-in Teen Clinics provide family planning and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) services for females and males through age 19.

(Please note: teens may also be seen at all Family Care Center locations and Riverside County Regional Medical Center Women’s Health Clinics during regularly scheduled services by appointment.)

Outreach Services:
Outreach services such as educational presentations on sexually transmitted infections, teen pregnancy prevention, reproductive health topics, or birth control methods are available through the Family Planning Program.  We serve community organizations, schools and service groups as requested.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH GO

Community Outreach Services provides essential information to the community, CHA employees and businesses regarding the Department of Public Health.  Through annual health fairs and events, we establish community relationships to better serve the needs of Riverside County residents.  This office also works as a liaison with public and private agencies to promote health activities and outreach opportunities.

Our Department of Health Auxiliary provides support to our various Agency programs through volunteer and fundraising activities.  Financial support includes match donations, purchase of non-budgeted items (i.e., equipment for employee break rooms, transportation vouchers, and other client assistance), and items of critical need.

Community members are encouraged to join the DOPH auxiliary board.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES GO
Volunteer Services welcomes men and women who are interested in volunteering to assist in the delivery of health services within our Department of Public Health programs. Volunteers are given the opportunity to utilize their skills, time and energy for the overall good of the community. By donating their time and talent, volunteers enhance quality and availability of public health services. A six-month commitment is requested. Open to anyone 16 years of age and older.
