| Comprehensive bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, immunology, serology, virology, and parasitology services to aid in the diagnosis and the control of communicable diseases. | Laboratory fees are based on cost only. Specimens are processed upon request from Community Health Agency medical personnel and private medical care providers. |
| Water microbiology to aid in the surveillance of water quality and in the investigation, and control of waterborne disease outbreaks. | Laboratory services are available
to the public at cost. |
| Food microbiology to aid in the investigation, epidemiology, and control of bacteriological food poisoning outbreaks. | These services are provided upon
Community Health Agency request. |
| Sanitation microbiology as an aid in monitoring the sanitary conditions of food establishments. | These services are provided upon

| Occupational Health Laboratory Services to support pre-employment physicals. | These services are provided upon

| Rabies testing is provided for both diagnostic and surveillance purposes. | Fees are charged for rabies tests. Tests are performed only upon the request of an animal control agency. |

| Confirmatory testing services are available to the local medical community. These include procedures for syphilis, HIV, bacterial identification, and susceptibility testing. The Public Health Laboratory acts as the official channel in referring infectious disease organisms to the State Department of Health Services Laboratory and to the Centers for Disease Control Laboratory. | Fees are charged for certain services. Please contact the Public Health Laboratory for specific information. |
| Consultation Services: Consultation and technical training for department staff and the local medical community is provided in many areas. Some include: proper specimen collection technique for microbiological testing, safety procedures, quality assurance, interpretation of results and epidemiological investigations. Technical training and laboratory management training for private medical laboratories through teleconference programs in cooperation with the State Department of Health Services is also provided. |
Consultation services are provided
at no charge. Technical training is generally provided at little or no charge. |
